So, I'm a chocolateier now...

Two weeks ago, this long and rather ridiculous period of finding employment after being unemployed for the season ended. If you recall, I was a school photographer for a company down here in MA. I would drive to schools and photograph school yearbook photos, or hand out tickets and set stations for students to go to. I would drive to places as far as Adams, MA!

Unfortunately, my time with them was cut short as it was a seasonal job, and the work drama I honestly had let go. It took a while, but I landed at a company known for being the last to make a specific bar popular in New England. The opportunity has been amazing so far!

What was funny about me working with them is considering the fact that they have been needing new workers since July, back when Bread O Life was dealing its last stand in MA. I could have been consistently working since! Not to mention, I would drive by the store all the time, but never went in until recently. But time is time. I found the job via an Instagram Reel telling me the history of the company and how they received the rights to the candy bar. I decided to check them out soon after.

Not only am I getting paid well, I also get to make chocolate while at it. Now tell me, do you know how heavy 53 bars of chocolate weigh in? Quite a lot, actually! Nonetheless, I do feel a little stronger than before with how much repetition and muscle work go into production.

Sometimes in the repetition, it does give time to zone out and automate what you're doing... sometimes, the station I'm at requires big brain time and quick time action... and prayers. The job comes with its challenges, something I appreciate for the most part!

As I zone out, it gives me time to think a little about what I want to do with what I earn. I am turning 23 this year, and I have given genuine thought to how to use this opportunity to my advantage.

For the time being, I'll stick to a routine as much as possible. Not only would this promote better health, but structure my days. You would think I could have done this unemployed, and you'd be right in a sense. Sadly, I did not.

Anyways, I plan to work out before work (30 min cardio in the home gym I'm building), learn to meal prep, work on a creative project most days, game a little, write, then sleep and repeat.

Earlier this year, I wrote some goals and told a friend about them. Something he told me struck me hard. "Presenting your work or talking about what you will do can trigger a premature sense of accomplishment."

So, this year I want to genuinely work on that point:

Plan and actually act.

Now, let's work on The New Routine.
